Mitigation of salinization and sodification of chernozems irrigated by brackish water

This research aimed to assess the impact of deep ploughing, with manuring and alone, as well effects different calcium ameliorants on physicochemical properties, fertility, crop productivity calcic chernozems in Northern Steppe Ukraine over a period 7 years. Deep ploughing manure had long-term positive mentioned characteristics that were irrigated brackish water long period. The bulk density decreased from 1.2 0.98 g/cm3, while carbonate content increased 8.7%. humus layer 50 75 cm. exchangeable sodium potassium percentage 3.9-4.8% yield by 21-38%. These persisted throughout entire 7-year effect lasted shorter (only 3-4 seasons) was follows: i) degree soil sodicity medium weak; ii) 4.1-5.5%; iii) carbonates root zone 2.7 3.3%; iv) 10-30%. All measures proved be effective mitigating salinity affected chernozems.
